Obituary of Patricia A McAvaddy

Patricia M. McAvaddy (nee Ryan) 70 of Pleasantville, NJ was called to heaven on Sunday January 5, 2025. She passed peacefully and spent her final days surrounded by friends and family, sharing special moments and memories together. Patty was born in California on November 20, 1954, and spent her childhood in San Francisco before her family moved East to New Jersey. She attended St. Peter's Catholic grade school and Holy Spirit High School ('72.) After that, she worked for social security administration, and for 30+ years, she enjoyed her career working on the Expressway of Atlantic City. We couldn't leave out her various side jobs such as her professional cake business in the 90s "Patty Cake," department store gift wrapper, floral delivery, and 'slinging hash' at the airport grill as well as a fraternity house at Upenn. Our Mom loved music & was unbeatable at music trivia. She had every title, artist, & year memorized for songs that spanned decades. She was also super sharp at Wheel of Fortune & word jumbles. She was very creative & an impeccable decorator. The holidays were something magical. She gave really great gifts from the heart with inventive themes. For a large collection of kids who knew and loved her over the years, she is famous for candy grab bags, meals on wheels, & rides to anyone who ever needed it! Patty lost her husband Albert 15 years ago and a great love story was put on pause. We know how happy she will be to be reunited again and join her parents (Katherine & Joseph Ryan) & In-Laws (Florence & Robert McAvaddy) as well as her sister (Therese Parsio.) Patricia is survived by her children, David (Amanda) McAvaddy, Colleen (Jeff) McAvaddy, sister Mary Jo Ryan-Brown, & her lifelong friends who love her dearly as well as nieces and nephews who will miss their Aunt Patty. An informal remembrance will be held Saturday January 11, 2025 from 12-2pm at Gormley Funeral Home 2706 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City (12-1:30 for family hugs & visits), then we'll come together to share a few words & thoughts of Patty with a brief service by Fr, Patrick Brady. Flowers are welcome to be sent to Gormley Funeral Home to honor Patricia's wishes. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family in whatever way(s) you wish.
