Obituary of Mary Priscilla Ruane

Mary Priscilla Ruane 88 of Atlantic City quietly passed away on 5/7/2024, at The Shores in Ocean City. Mary was born in Atlantic City, NJ, married James Ruane and raised 5 children. In her early years, Mary worked for Bell Telephone company, until she took leave to raise her family. Mary was a devoted mother who will be remembered for her strong, giving spirit, ranging from family, friends, and her children's friends, who she would treat like family. Mary volunteered her time for many years to Our Lady Star of the Sea School and was a faithful parishioner to Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. She eventually went back to work for the offices of podiatrist's Dr. Alex Kershenblatt, and then Dr. Greg Mowen, a job she thoroughly loved and was sad to leave because of health issues. Mary was predeceased by her husband, James Ruane Sr., daughter Christina Rush, mother and father, Catherine (Toots) and Danny Coan, and brothers Danny and Michael Coan. Mary is survived by her children, James II (Chrissy), Patrick (Barb), Daniel, Mary Kate Pedano (Fran), son in law Joe Rush, her grandchildren Katie, Erin, Patrick, Erik, Christina, Franny and Jonathan, cousins Gerry Ferguson, James, John and Ralph Reagan, Cass Forde and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Mary Priscilla Ruane 11:00am Monday, May 13, 2024 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church 2651 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City. Relatives and friends may begin to gather at the church for her viewing, before Mass, from 10:00am. The Rite of Committal will be offered at Holy Cross Cemetery 5061 Harding Highway (route 40) in Mays Landing, following Mass. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to: Our Lady Star of the Sea School, 15 North California Ave., Atlantic City, NJ 08401. NOTE SCHOOL TUITION IN THE MEMO LINE.
