Obituary of Emily S. Money
Please share a memory of Emily to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
EMILY MONEY (nee SWAN) 89 of Margate, passed away peacefully, at home on March 5, 2024, surrounded by loving family.
Born in Atlantic City, Emily was a lifelong resident of both Ventnor and Margate. She was a graduate of Atlantic City High School in 1952 and was a proud Viking.
Emily was very involved in her community from a young age. As a "bay rat" she spent many summers up and down the creeks of Ventnor. She was athletic and rode horseback, played basketball, softball, and tennis, and was an avid skier. Skiing took her all over the world with a great group of friends.
A huge interest of Emily's was playing Bridge. Mom was a fraction of a gold star from Life Master status. Also, she ran a bridge club for many years and the women really enjoyed each other's company and a bit of competition. .
In 1955 she became Miss Atlantic City. Her service taught her the importance of being charitable. She was a member of Pi NU Society, Charity League, and she sewed many Christmas pins and baked many cookies for the league.
Speaking of cookies, who could forget the delicious butter cookies that she baked for years? Auntie Em's Cookies was an institution in the area. So many friends, family, and acquaintances came through our door, and her cookies ended up traveling the world!
Emily's children wanted for nothing from her. She got us involved in everything, especially sports, and she made it to every game.
Also, her pets wanted for nothing. If you knew Emily, you knew her dog. Snowball was the neighborhood dog, back in the days you just "let the dog out." Dogs, cats, turtles, and ducks all called Clermont Avenue home.
Emily was very spiritual and brought her family up in the church. Every time we went out the door, Mom asked for guidance from above, and we always thanked God for delivering us home safely. Now she is home with the Lord and her much loved son Paul Stanley Money who passed in 2015-
(1962-2015). She is survived by son William H. Money III of Sandy, Utah and daughter Jodi Marie Money of Margate, NJ.
Services will be held 1:00PM Sunday, April 28th, 2024 at the Margate Community Church 8900 Ventnor Avenue, Margate. Relatives and friends may begin to gather from 12 noon at the Church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Funny Farm Rescue.org, 6908 Railroad Blvd. Mays Landing, NJ 08330. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home LLC/AC (gormleyfuneralhomellc.com).
