Jay S. Brody, 80 years of age, of Atlantic City, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on March 21, 2024
Jay was born May 18, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA. He later moved to Ventnor and to Atlantic City. He was a doorman at Bally's Park Place for 38 years where everyone was greeted by his infectious smile and sunny disposition.
Jay loved watching his Philadelphia Phillies play, spending time at the casino, but mostly spending time with his granddaughters, whom he affectionately called "his girls".
Jay served in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant with the 7th Calvary, 8th Division during the Vietnam War.
He is predeceased by his mother, Jean Drizin; stepfather Edward Drizin; brother Hesh Brody; sisters Delores Marko and Reisha Brody. Last but not least, his granddaughter Gianna Guidara.
Jay is survived by his wife Sally Brody; children Bobby (Baba) Lupica, Michael Lupica, Chrissy Lupica, Danette Ruzzo (Mike Ruzzo); granddaughters Mia Ruzzo, Sofia Ruzzo and Livia McManus; sister Michele Epstein; sister-in-law Audrey Brody Daniel and his many loving nieces and nephews; Danielle Drizin, Andrew (AJ) Rothman, Robin Lafty, Mindy Bayne, Sherrie Anthony, Brad Marko, Ricky Brody, Wendy Schugardt, Susan Fogerty; and great nephew Joey Donnolly.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Gormley Funeral Home LLC from 11:00am Friday, March 29, 2024 with formal services scheduled at 1:00PM.
