CALLAHAN, Hanna (Nancy) Marie, 96 Born 08/27/1927 in Delaware County, PA., went with the Angels of the Lord peacefully on 2/12/2024. Nancy was predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Charles Winn, Husband Thomas (Rocky) Callahan, Sr., brother Charles (Pete) Winn and son Thomas J. Callahan, Jr. Nancy is survived by her children; Susan Brodesser Callahan (Thomas, Jr.), Patricia Coady (Frank), William J. Callahan, Sr., Raymond P. Callahan, James P. Callahan, Elizabeth M. Laney (Raymond); grandchildren Kathlyn, Meghan, Ryan, Paul, Nick, Caleb, Marie, Dean, William Jr., Sorcha, and Patrick; Great-grandchildren, Bryce, Allyson, Brent, Austin and Kieran. Nancy attended Holy Spring Academy in Silver Spring, Maryland and Norte' Dame Delamar, where she earned a full scholarship in academics to Seton Hall. She turned this opportunity down to stay home in Atlantic City with her beloved mother Bessie. Nancy met her husband Thomas (Rocky) Callahan on the beach in AC. She had been a Girl Scout of America. Nancy and Thomas had 6 children when she became a Boy/Girl Scout assistant Leader. She was active in baseball in Venice Park with the boys and she coached the girls softball team. Nancy joined Star of the Sea Parish after moving from Venice Park to the Lower Chelsea section of Atlantic City. She worked at Haddon Hall Hotel in the Rose and Thistle Cocktail Lounge and later at Resorts Hotel and Casino as the first Manager of the Dealers Lounge. After retiring from Resorts completely, she became a cook for several Priests in different rectories around New Jersey. These times were the biggest joys she experienced in her working career. She was a parishioner and servant at Our Lady Star of the Sea. For 54 years, she lived in her home on Plaza Place where she and Rocky raised their family. Nancy loved the friends she made in the crafting community, specializing in ceramics, cards and scrapbooking. She valued the gift of making personalized cards for family and friends. Nancy learned her love of God from her Mother. She was involved in the Living Water Prayer Group, which helped place the Shrine of the Sacred Heart at Star of the Sea Church where she found comfort in prayer there. Nancy is known as Sister Mary Magdalene to her sisters in the Dominican Order. She was received into the Third Order of St. Dominic on October 5, 1980 - she was professed on March 14, 1982 to the Third Order of the Dominicans. She cherished being able to minister to others. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Nancy Marie Callahan 11:00am Saturday, February 24th at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church 2651 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ. Relatives and friends may begin to gather at the church from 9:00am with Eulogy at 10:30am and Mass at 11:00am. The Rite of Committal will be offered at Holy Cross Cemetery 626 Baily Road, Yeadon, PA 19050.
