Daniel John McCabe Sr, 63, of Northfield, NJ ,passed on January 26th, 2024 after an inspiring battle with cancer, surrounded and lovingly supported by his family.
Danny was born on October 7th, 1960 and spent his young years in Briarcliffe, a neighborhood in Delaware County, PA. He graduated from Holy Spirit High School in 1979 and enjoyed his time living in Margate, New Jersey and eventually settled with his family in Northfield, New Jersey. Danny enjoyed his career in the casinos of Atlantic City for over 30 years.
Dan had the gift of a good disposition. Anyone lucky enough to know him felt better for it. He spent his younger years riding dirt bikes, surfing, and loving the beach. His dad had him boating at a young age that led him to life long knowledge and love of the water. His smile was contagious and he will be remembered by his outgoing personality. He loved to play the piano and he devoted himself to karate.
Dan began his training at the Olympic Center at the JCC in the late 70's. He later became a second degree blackbelt in Goju. He was a successful competitor in Martial Arts, taking first place in the National Karate Tournament in Atlantic City in 1990.
In 1998 Dan made the heroic choice to step-up and give the gift of life to his family by donating a kidney to his brother Dennis. His selflessness and love will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his loving wife Trish (Vandyke), children Danny Jr and Erin, their partners Amy and Nick, mother Dolores, brothers Buddy (Terry) and Dennis (Nancy), sisters Marianne (Tom) and Noreen (Ed), his family dog Rocco, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Bernard McCabe.
