Obituary of Carole J. Anderson

CAROLE J. ANDERSON, 89, of Mays Landing, NJ, passed away on January 11, 2024, due to complications suffered from a recent stroke. Born in Atlantic City on April 12, 1934, to the late Helene and William D. Anderson, Carole attended local public schools and was a 1952 graduate of Atlantic City High School. Upon graduation, Carole began a long-term career at Bell Atlantic and traveled to various offices in New Jersey, Pennsylvania & Florida. After retiring from Bell, Carole established her own successful business, A-Z Pay Phones, offering services in the tri-state area. In addition to her professional endeavors, Carole was also an ardent philanthropist. She was passionate about helping others, and countless others benefited from her generosity. Carole donated her time and resources to numerous causes, such as the Bell Telephone Pioneers of America, the Atlantic County Rowing Association, the Atlantic County Women's Bowling Association, as well as many other local and national charitable agencies and organizations. Energetic by nature, Carole was an athletic individual and participated in many sports. She was a professional women's bowler (having won a Pennsylvania championship), an avid golfer, enjoyed skiing and was a very loud and enthusiastic supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles. In addition to her parents, Carole was predeceased by her sister, Joyce (Anderson) Cress, and her nephews, Michael Cress and Fred Cress. She is survived by her sister, Dale (Anderson) Haney, her brother Bill Anderson (Barbara), her cherished niece & nephews, and her devoted, longtime friend, Eileen Susman. Carole's effervescent spirit and good heart will also assuredly be missed by several other family members and her many friends. Services for Carole will be held at the Gormley Funeral Home (2706 Atlantic Avenue – Atlantic City, NJ) on Wednesday – January 17, 2024, where friends & family may call from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. A Memorial Service at the funeral home will immediately follow visitation hours, and a private burial will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carole's memory to the Atlantic County Rowing Association (c/o 444 N. Annapolis Avenue – Atlantic City, NJ 08401), or your favorite charity.
