Obituary of Michael A. Akenskas

Michael A. AKENSKAS (Mike) 73 of Atlantic City, NJ, passed away peacefully with loving family and friends by his side on January 13, 2023. Michael was born on February 6, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA. where he resided for many years having various businesses. Later, moving to Bucks County, PA.- with his final residence being Atlantic City, NJ where he enjoyed sitting on the boardwalk talking to everyone and making lifetime friendships with many. He worked in Security at many casinos retiring from the Borgata in 2021.In his spare time he loved meeting his "buddies" for breakfast at the diner and most of all playing poker. He was known as Mikie A-"The Poker Player". He was a kind and generous man who everyone knew as a true friend and the man who would give you the shirt off his back. Michael is survived by his best friend and wife, In S. Lee; his sister Mary (the late Joe) Parcella; his daughters Mercy (Mike) Moyer and Natalie (John) Gallagher as well as his six grandchildren,1 great grandchild, nieces, nephews and many friends. Memorial Services for Michael will be conducted at 11:00am Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Gormley Funeral Home LLC 2706 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401 (gormleyfuneralhomellc.com). Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home from 11:00am until12:00noon. The interment will be private to the family.
