William J. Sharkey (Bill) 93 of Egg Harbor Township, passed away on January 11, 2023. Bill grew up in Ventnor and was a graduate of Atlantic City High School. He served in the US Navy from 1950 until 1954 serving aboard the USS Ellyson (DMS-19) during the Korean War. Following military service he was employed by Atlantic City Electric Company and retired as a Division Manager after 31 years of service. Bill was an avid fan of the Eagles and Phillies. He also loved bird watching, listening to music and sipping a warm Guinness. Bill enjoyed many trips across the globe with his wife Diana. Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 33 years, Diana; his children; William (Silvia), Timothy and Daniel Sharkey; Maureen Krause, Mary Fran (Harold) Buckberg, John (Taylor), and Matthew (Lori) Carney; his grandchildren Douglas (Jess) and Daniel (Rachel) Krause, Brian (Angela) Buckberg, Chelsea (Justin) Tuohy, J.P., Andrew and Ryan Carney, and Julianna Herrera; his great-grand children; Patrick and Owen Krause, Beau and Hank Buckberg and Avery and Jameson Tuohy; his sister Geraldine McCabe and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his grandchildren Kyle Buckberg and Dale Krause and son-in-law Douglas Krause. A Celebration of life will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Gormley Funeral Home LLC 2706 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ. Visitation will be from 10:00am until 12:00 noon with service immediately following. (gormleyfuneralhomellc.com).
