Obituary of Vincent J Antonelli

Vincent J. Antonelli 99 of Ventnor City, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2022 while a resident of Seashore Gardens, Galloway Township, NJ. Vincent was born in Atlantic City and graduated from Atlantic City High School. In January 1943 he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps and served for the next two years including a year in Guam. When Japan signed the surrender documents on the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945, he was involved in a fly by over Tokyo. After the War, he started work as a waiter at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Atlantic City where he met another Ritz employee, Marilyn Giordano. They married in 1947 and continued to reside in Atlantic City raising their family until moving to Ventnor in 1957. They remained married for seventy three years until Marilyn's death in December 2020. Over the years Vincent owned and operated a Jitney, sold beauty supplies and was self employed selling beauty products. He was always quick with a joke and enjoyed the lights and sounds of Atlantic City. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and many nieces and nephews. He was strong in his faith, dedicated to family and was a long time member of St James Catholic Church in Ventnor serving for many years as the head Usher. In addition to his loving wife, Marilyn, Vincent is predeceased by his parents, Vincenzo and Preziosa (nee Carano) Antonelli; brothers Albert Antonelli, William Antonelli, Ernest Antonelli; and sisters, Mary Antonelli, Millie Grosso, Margaret Conroy and Anita Pasquale. He is survived by daughter, Alice McGuigan (James) of Galloway Township; son Albert Antonelli, Margate, NJ; grandson, James McGuigan, Egg Harbor Township, NJ; granddaughter Brigid Graves ( Zach ), Virginia Beach, Va.; great granddaughters, Maura, Mollie, and Claire Graves, Virginia Beach, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be Celebrated for Vincent J. Antonelli at Holy Trinity Parish St James Church, 6415 Ventnor Avenue, Ventnor City at 11:00am Tuesday, November 22, 2022 with visitation from 10:00am. Following Mass, the Rite of Committal will be offered at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5061 Harding Highway (Route 40), Mays Landing, NJ. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home LLC, Atlantic City.
