Irmgard Luise Imperial (nee Schuh) 82 of Ventnor City, passed away August 26, 2022 at home surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness.
Irmgard was born in Oberndorf, Germany. She immigrated to the US in 1964. She met her husband of 55 years, Stephen, in 1965 while in Germany visiting her family. At that time, Stephen was serving in the US Army in Germany.
While working, Irmgard was employed by Egg Harbor Township Municipal Government following a stint at Playboy Casino prior to its closing. She loved traveling and she loved spending time with family and friends.
Irmgard and Stephen had two sons; Stephen Scott (Donna) and Lance (Lua). They were blessed with two grandchildren; Katherine and Stephen Thomas. They also had the privilege of enjoying and loving their three step grandchildren; Randi, Van and Danny and one step great grandchild, Brian. All were loved equally. Irmgard has many nieces and nephews in Germany and loved them dearly, visiting them often. Only one niece, Waltraud, lives in the US with her daughter Lily.Waltraud treated Irmgard as a surrogate mother and in return Irmgard loved Waltraud like a daughter.
Irmgard is predeceased by her parents Georg and Margareta Schuh and two brothers; Robert and Friedrich. She is survived by her husband Stephen, her children, her grand children and great grand child as well as her sister, Gertrud (Horst) and two sisters-in-law, Marianne and Rosa.
Graveside service will be conducted 11:00am Saturday September 17, 2022 at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Route 50 in Estell Manor.
The family would like to thank Althea, Shenona, Luz and Compassionate Care Hospice for their tender loving care of Irmgard during her declining years. No flowers or cards are needed. Please just have fond memories of Irmgard's warm and friendly smile. She loved and was loved by many!
