Obituary of Mark Anthony Sykes

SYKES, MARK ANTHONY of Galloway Township passed away on February 1, 2022. ( July 27, 1955 - February 1, 2022) Mark was a lifelong Atlantic County resident, born in Atlantic City, raised in Margate and Northfield, and settled with his loving wife, Patty, in Galloway Township. Mark's early years followed family traditions of beach days and fishing the back bays in the summers and playing ice hockey in the winter with dad, brothers, and friends. He was an excellent athlete and following another family tradition, like his grandfather and father, he became a lifeguard on the Atlantic City Beach Patrol. Mark joined his dad/mentor at Sykes Realty Company, where Mark became his dad's right- hand man. In 2001, Mark opened M. Sykes Realty in Northfield, and for many years also worked for Northfield as Property Tax Assessor and Atlantic City, as a contracted tax expert. Mark is predeceased by his Father James Sykes and Mother Peggy Sykes. Mark is survived by his wife, Patty, his children, Christina (Andrew) Sciarretta, Michael Coover, & Marie (Kapilan) Callahan, his grandchildren, Grayson & Avery Sciarretta, siblings Charlie (Ellen) Sykes, Paul (Diane) Sykes, Terry (Vic) Kenask, Margie (Rick) Bruce, Susan Sykes, Stacey (Don) Wood, Timmy Sykes, and some of the world's greatest friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Mark Anthony Sykes 12:00noon Saturday, February 12,2022 at Holy Trinity Parish, Blessed Sacrament Church 8501 Ventnor Avenue, Margate, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Church from 10:00am until 11:45am. All Church protocols will be observed including masks.
