Obituary of Barbara J. Ruley

RULEY, BARBARA JEAN (Ferry) 88, of Atlantic City went home to the Lord on January 28, 2022. Born July 13, 1933 to Mary Enright Ferry and Francis J. Ferry in Dallas, PA. She was one of six siblings. Barbara attended College Misericordia, in Dallas, PA, graduating with a BA in Music. She came to Atlantic City in 1953, where she met Allen Dennis Ruley, the love of her life on the beaches of Atlantic City, NJ. They were married for 66 wonderful years. Barbara was a devoted mother to her six children whom she loved with all of her heart. Barbara returned to Glassboro State College to achieve a Master's Degree in Special Education where upon she enjoyed over 30 years teaching disabled children. She was a beautiful, gentle, loving and kind soul; always there to provide love, encouragement and support to anyone lucky enough to know her, adored by her children and family and will be dearly missed. Barbara was loving and caring-- lending advice, encouragement and support. She was a talented pianist, loved the beach and Boardwalk, classical music and flowers. Barbara was a voracious reader and loved to bake, play games, and celebrate Christmas, holidays and birthdays. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Ellen Ruley Ferris. Barbara is survived by her dear husband, Allen Dennis Ruley; her children Dennis (Bernadette), Mary Moyer (Michael), Bridget Sauve' (John), Michael, Jennifer Cibotti (John). "Mams" will be missed by her 17 grandchildren: Raina, Patrick, Christopher, Hallie, Christina, Madeline, Alicia, Julia, Thomas, Michele, Annie, Morgan, Macey, John David, Heaven, Starla & Jasper. She was blessed to have five great-grandchildren, and cherished all of the children who came into her life. Barbara was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, mother-in-law and friend. One sister, Eileen Byrne (Denis), survives her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Barbara Jean Ruley 11:00am Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 2651 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church from 9:30am. Burial will be private. Church protocols will be required including Masks.
