Obituary of Charles J. Neely

NEELY, CHARLES J. Jr. (Charlie) 87, f Galloway, passed away on December 8, 2017, at Spring Village at Galloway, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Atlantic City, Charlie resided in Absecon and Galloway Twp. for most of his life. Charlie started his ceramic tile career at Campbell Tile Company, in Atlantic City, and then went on to work at Avalon Tile and Marble Company, where he was a supervisor for many of the Casino projects. Upon retiring, Charlie and his late wife, Joann, spent many good years enjoying the beautiful weather and many friends at Boca Ciega Estates in Largo, Florida. He was a former National Guardsman, a member of the Bricklayers Union, an avid fisherman and duck hunter. He was also always ready to help anyone on a house project. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Charles J Neely Sr. and Catherine(Brennan) Neely, and his late wife, Joann Neely. He leaves behind, his loving daughter, Cynthia Neely Smith and her husband, Joseph T Smith Jr.; his grandchildren, Joseph T Smith III (Kurry) and Marci Smith Driscoll (David); his five great-grandchildren, Audrey Smith, Hadley Smith, Joseph T Smith IV, Charles Driscoll, and Declan Driscoll; loving sisters, Sally Calebrese and Laura Burns (John); nieces Cathleen and Christine and nephews, Francis, Robert, Jeffrey and Jamie. We as a family, would like to express our sincere thanks to all the staff at Spring Village at Galloway and to Grace Healthcare Services, for their Love, Kindness, and Compassion to Charlie and to all of us. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Charles J. Neely, Jr. at 10:30 am Thursday morning, December 14, 2017, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Church of the Assumption, 146 South Pitney Road, Galloway. Visitation is from 9:00am - 10:30am at the church. The Rite of Committal will be offered at Laurel Memorial Park Cemetery, Tilton Road, Egg Harbor Township, following Mass.
