Helen Margrace DelGesso (Aunt Helen), 75 of Absecon, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2021 surrounded by her family. Helen was born on December 6, 1945 in Augusta, Georgia, which after a brief time, she became a lifelong resident in New Jersey. From birth Helen had several uphill battles which included various medical personnel stating she would not walk, talk, or even survived childhood. Each and ever obstacle in her path she overcame with hard work, determination, and the support of family. Though she required special education classes, she graduated her schooling In her lifetime, she babysat a variety of neighborhood kids throughout "Chelsea Heights, in Atlantic City. Though Helen never held "employment" she cared deeply about other special needs children and adults. She would take part every September in collecting donations for the Jerry Lewis Foundation, "Jerry's Kids" thorough out the Chelsea Heights neighborhood. She loved taking walks to enjoy the weather, and in the summertime, she would passionately take various nieces and nephews to the Atlantic City beach. Anyone at any time would find Helen wearing her favorite color - pink. Helen is preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Lillian (nee Dugan) DelGesso, and her youngest brother Joseph Michael DelGesso (Joanne). Helen is survived by he sisters Ethel Eisenlohr (Conrad) of Somers Point, Grace Horner (Kenneth) of Elizabethtown, PA, and Virginia Turner (Thomas) of Absecon; brothers Anthony DelGesso (Priscilla) of Richland, and Edward DelGesso (Nancy) of Pleasantville. Helen was adored by numerous nieces and nephews along with multiple grand-nieces and grand-nephews The family would like to extend an extreme heartfelt thank you to the various members of Preferred Care of Absecon in their care of Helen these last years, especially these last months, with keeping her comfortable, and communication with the family in regards to her care. A Mass of Christina Burial will be Celebrated for Helen M. DelGesso 12:00 Noon Friday April 23, 2021 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church 2651 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City. Church protocols, masks and social distancing will be observed. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to the local Dementia and Alzheimer's Foundation in Helen's name.
