Obituary of Vincent D. Bennett

Vincent D. Bennett 84 of Mays Landing (formerly of Absecon), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at his home. Born in Atlantic City, Vincent attended Holy Spirit Grammar School and Holy Spirit High School. He moved to Absecon after marrying Helen Brower, where they raised 3 children. He served his country Honorably during the Korean War in the US Army. Vincent was employed at the Atlantic City Press for 44 years and after retiring, he worked at Storybook Land. He had a lifelong love for the beach and the ocean. Vincent was known by many as a gentle man. He was active in many organizations, including the Absecon Blue Devils, ASAC, the JayCees, the Cub Scouts, and the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight. Not only was Vincent an avid Green Bay Packers fan, but he was also a Proud "Owner". Vincent was preceded in death by his son Vincent Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Helen; his daughter Patricia Accardi (Anthony); his son Keith Bennett (Shannon); his daughter-in-law Diane Bennett,; grandchildren Vincent III, Thomas, Garrett and Abigail. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen and brother Francis (Barbara). Vince also leaves behind his Little Buddy "Jud". A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Vincent D. Bennett 11:00am Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Church of Saint Katharine Drexel, 6075 West Jersey Avenue, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234. Relatives and friends may call on his family at the church from 9:30am. The Rite of Committal will be offered at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Route 50 South, in Estell Manor following Mass. The family wishes to send a "Special Thanks" to Dr. Gery, Dr. M. Patel, Dr. W. Carreno and Holy Redeemer Homecare and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Church of Saint Katharine Drexel, in memory of Vincent. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home LLC,AC.
